Skyguide has selected Innov\u2019ATM’s SkyKeeper Suite\u00ae to validate the concept of runway optimisation on single and multiple runway airports based on a coupled AMAN\/DMAN which will be tested in the frame of SESAR 2020 project PJ02 EARTH (solution 08).<\/strong><\/p>\n SESAR 2020 project “PJ02 EARTH” proposes several solutions for future RWY throughput optimisation. Skyguide is mandated to define the operational concept (OSED), the Safety Performance Requirements (SPR) and the Interoperability Requirements (INTEROP) for the solution 08. Solution 08 focuses on RWY optimisation on single and multiple RWY airports using a coupled AMAN\/DMAN. Skyguide is also responsible for the validation of this concept in an environment of mixed mode operations single RWY (Geneva Airport) by means of real time simulations.<\/p>\n Skyguide and its subsidiary SkySoft-ATM participate in this multinational project led by Eurocontrol providing the operational and technical expertise and the simulation platform respectively. This 18-month project will enable Innov\u2019ATM to deploy its integrated software solution, SkyKeeper Suite\u00ae which implements the coupled AMAN\/DMAN concept, to optimise air traffic management within the context of the skyguide\/SkySoft-ATM simulation platform, providing significant operational improvements by optimising management of arrivals and departures, and increasing the capacity of the airport efficiently.<\/p>\n Montserrat Mendoza, responsible of skyguide activities in the project, said: \u201cSingle RWY in mixed mode is recognized to be the most constrained environment for the coupled AMAN\/DMAN. Therefore, the validation of this concept in the operational environment of Geneva (high density and complexity) is a very challenging task that we will face with enthusiasm. We are looking forward to the collaboration with Innov’ATM to deal with this complex topic\u201d.<\/p>\n St\u00e9phane Bascobert, Chairman of Innov\u2019ATM said: \u201cIt\u2019s an honour to be part of such an exciting project with the first coupled AMAN\/DMAN solution deployed in the complex environment of an international airport such as Geneva Airport.\u201d<\/p>\n This project has received funding from the SESAR Joint Undertaking under the European Union\u2019s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, under grant agreement No 731781.<\/p>\n The Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) project, set up in 2004 as the technological pillar of the Single European Sky to modernise Europe\u2019s air traffic management (ATM) system, is now making significant progress in transforming the performance of Europe\u2019s ATM network. The goal of SESAR is to contribute to the SES High- Level Goals of tripling capacity, halving air navigation service costs, reducing emissions by 10% and improving safety by a factor of 10. Established in 2007, the SESAR Joint Undertaking (SESAR JU), a public-private partnership, is responsible for defining, developing and validating solutions in preparation for their deployment. The SESAR JU does so by harnessing the research and innovation expertise and resources of the entire ATM community, from the Network Manager and civil and military air navigation service providers, to airports, civil and military airspace users, staff associations, academia and research centres.<\/p>\n Skyguide is the Swiss Air Navigation Services Provider. Skyguide has 1500 employees with over 540 civil and military air traffic controllers. Over 300 engineers, technicians and IT-Experts are responsible for the development and maintenance of the complex technical installations and facilities. Operators of aeronautical data manage the necessary information to assure a smooth continuation of the air traffic. Other experts are in charge of the planning and development. In addition, there’s the administrative staff and the numerous instructors at the skyguide training centre, who are in charge of training the personnel in the operations. Skyguide operates at 14 locations in Switzerland. Skyguide handles air traffic operations at Geneva and Zurich national airports, at regional airports, and at several military aerodromes. Furthermore, Skyguide ensure the maintenance of 240 installations throughout the country.
